Imagine you’re watching a movie. The more you get into it, the more the story develops. The planets represent all the plot twists that keep you on the edge of your seat…

The planets symbolise all the different aspects in life. They rule the many needs and desires you have. Where the Zodiac signs are the individual characters, the planets are the overall theme – you need both to get the best understanding and experience. Let’s take a look at each of them in turn.

The Astrological Planets

SUN

  • Gmail

This is the essence of who you are. It represents your truest personality and your self-expression. The Sun shines a light on what your focus is in this lifetime and what you are becoming (the driving force that steers you in everything you do). When you’re in alignment with your core values then things become much more authentic and natural, and the greatest opportunities present themselves. The Sun sign is what you refer to as ‘your star sign’

MOON

The Moon represents your feelings and emotions. It shows you the places where your instincts are driving you. By exploring where this planet sits in your chart, you get a greater understanding of your needs and wants. It shows you why you do what you do, and what your natural instinctive behaviour is.

VENUS

  • Gmail

The planet of love and beauty. Venus shows you the things that bring you pleasure. She shows you what you find attractive and what your love style is. This is the planet to explore if you’re wanting to figure out what others find irresistible about you, and how you act in all sorts of relationships.

MARS

  • Gmail

The passionate planet. This is where you can understand your motivation and what ultimately drives you toward your goals and dreams. Mars shows you how to take action and get things done. He shows you how to deal with competition and what triggers your (ahem) aggressive side.

MERCURY

JUPITER

Jupiter, the planet that shows you how to find your purpose (which is ultimately happiness). It shows you where in life you’re most lucky, and where fortune appears most effortlessly. Explore where your natural growth and development is, and what you can hope to attain.

SATURN
  • Facebook
  • Pinterest
  • Gmail

Saturn is the teacher planet. Through challenges and obstacles, you learn to take responsibility for your actions and patiently work your way through specific lessons that will bring great reward. Saturn is pretty hardcore, but you can equip yourself by knowing where it sits in your chart and what areas it will affect.

URANUS
  • Facebook
  • Pinterest
  • Gmail

This planet represents change. It can be quite unpredictable and disruptive in how it shows up in your life, but if you know where it sits in your chart then you can get a sneaky peak into the areas it might mess with.

NEPTUNE
  • Facebook
  • Pinterest
  • Gmail

The planet of mysticism. Neptune rules your dreams and your imagination, showing you where you are the most creative and what fantastic goals to aim for. Highly intuitive, you’ll see where your core spiritual self lies. This planet also shines a light on your addictions.

PLUTO
  • Facebook
  • Pinterest
  • Gmail

The planet of death and rebirth. Pluto governs transformation, and gives key indication to areas of your life that need to be worked through and let go of. When you understand where Pluto sits in your chart, you’ll get an idea of what your personal power is and how to reclaim it.

The planets are always on the move (just like my children) but each have their own speed-dial to how they move around.

By keeping an eye on planetary movements, you can get an idea to what’s coming up for you and plan accordingly.

For example: the sun spends approx one month in each zodiac sign. If it enters Gemini then partnerships or communication could be your focus. OR if Saturn’s about to merge with Leo then a major lesson is possibly going to unfold (which could be quite bold and in your face)

The important thing to do is just have fun with your chart first. Astrology is a lifelong love and there’s always new things to learn.
